Former AAC Lagos Chairman Calls on Supporters to Prioritise Tinubu, Sowore Content Ahead of 2027 Elections

Former Lagos State Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC), Comrade Ayoyinka Oni, has called on supporters, bloggers, content creators and social media influencers within the African Action Congress (AAC) and the Take It Back (TIB) Movement to refocus their digital campaigns on promoting the party’s ideology, manifesto and presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, instead of devoting excessive attention to online feuds involving individuals he described as “non-essentials.”

In a lengthy message addressed to members of the movement, Oni praised the remarkable growth of the party’s online media presence over the years, noting that digital mobilisation has become one of the strongest pillars of the AAC’s political campaigns.

According to him, the party’s online strategy has evolved significantly since the 2019 general elections, when coordinated social media trends became one of its most effective communication tools. He added that the 2023 election witnessed another phase of digital mobilisation through Twitter Spaces and online discussions, while the emergence of dedicated content creators has further strengthened the movement’s ability to reach younger Nigerians ahead of the 2027 elections.

Oni commended the consistency and sacrifices of party supporters who produce daily videos, graphics, commentaries and other digital materials promoting the AAC and the Take It Back Movement, describing them as an invaluable asset to the revolutionary movement.

He admitted that while he has participated in interviews, online discussions and media engagements, content creation requires dedication and technical skills that many volunteers have willingly contributed to the party.

“I personally want to thank you all for the great work you have been doing in pushing the party, the movement and Omoyele Sowore. In 2019, trending was our greatest strength. In 2023, Twitter Spaces became another powerful platform. Today, content creators are leading the digital struggle, and your commitment deserves appreciation,” he said.

Despite applauding their efforts, the former AAC chairman expressed concern that many supporters appear to have become distracted by prolonged online attacks against individuals who, in his opinion, should not occupy the movement’s primary attention.

He argued that while criticism remains an important aspect of political engagement, the current trend of repeatedly targeting personalities outside government contributes little to advancing the party’s political objectives or educating Nigerians about the alternatives being offered by the AAC.

According to Oni, those occupying public office and exercising political power should remain the principal focus of revolutionary criticism.

“The only people who deserve that level of attention are Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the 36 state governors, the 109 senators, members of the House of Representatives, state assemblies and those responsible for the present condition of Nigeria,” he stated.

He advised supporters that if they choose to produce content responding to comments made by other public figures, such content should not overshadow materials exposing government failures or promoting the party’s vision for national transformation.

“If you do one content for non-essentials, do nine for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and those running the country,” he urged.

Oni further rejected suggestions that the AAC lacks enough materials for content creators, insisting that the party possesses one of the richest archives of political ideas and policy proposals in Nigeria.

He pointed to numerous interviews, speeches and policy discussions by AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore over the years, arguing that these resources remain largely underutilised despite containing detailed solutions to Nigeria’s political, economic and security challenges.

“In this country, no presidential candidate has granted more interviews explaining how Nigeria can be transformed than Omoyele Sowore. If content creators begin posting and analysing those interviews today, they will not exhaust them before the election,” he said.

He encouraged supporters to revisit these materials, break them into shorter videos and explain the party’s policy positions in ways that ordinary Nigerians can easily understand.

The former state chairman also reminded supporters that Sowore is not the only influential voice within the AAC.

According to him, many current and former leaders of the party possess valuable experiences, revolutionary histories and intellectual contributions that deserve wider public attention.

He therefore urged content creators to document the stories of party leaders who have made sacrifices in the struggle for democracy and social justice, saying such stories would help Nigerians better understand the values and history of the movement.

Oni also emphasised the need to consistently publicise party meetings, grassroots mobilisation activities and community engagements across different states.

He argued that many Nigerians still perceive the AAC solely as a protest movement without appreciating its organisational structure and internal political activities.

By showcasing meetings, policy discussions and local organising efforts, he said, supporters would demonstrate that the party is actively building democratic structures rather than merely reacting to national events.

The former chairman also called for greater attention to the party’s manifesto, urging content creators to produce regular analyses explaining the AAC’s policy proposals on education, healthcare, employment, corruption, security and economic development.

He maintained that the manifesto should become one of the movement’s most visible campaign tools in the months leading to the 2027 elections.

Oni equally cautioned supporters against spreading false information or misleading narratives simply to gain online engagement.

He said revolutionaries must remain committed to truth and factual reporting even when criticising political opponents or responding to disagreements involving allies.

“We should not use lies because we dislike someone. We are revolutionaries. We should not deceive people simply because we want views. Let our content be guided by ideology, truth and facts,” he said.

Referring to recent disagreements involving some political commentators and lawyers associated with the movement, Oni advised supporters against allowing personal differences to divide the party or confuse its supporters.

He warned that content capable of creating unnecessary internal conflicts could weaken the movement at a time when unity and strategic communication are most needed.

As preparations for the 2027 general elections intensify, Oni urged all supporters to remain focused on the broader objective of building public support for the AAC and its presidential candidate rather than becoming consumed by online controversies.

He concluded that the movement’s digital campaign should ultimately educate Nigerians, expose government failures and convince more citizens to embrace the party’s revolutionary vision for national transformation.

With less than a year until Nigerians head to the polls, Oni stressed that every piece of content should contribute to strengthening the party’s message and expanding its grassroots support across the country.
