“Never Ask a Man What He Feels Like Eating, Just Cook Whatever You Want” — Chef Tosin Sparks Debate Online

Celebrity chef and food content creator, Chef Tosin, has ignited a lively debate on social media after sharing what she described as one of the biggest lessons she has learned since becoming a wife.

In a post that quickly went viral on X (formerly Twitter), the chef advised women to stop asking their husbands what they would like to eat, joking that many men rarely have a specific answer.

Sharing her experience, she wrote:

One of the biggest hacks I’ve learnt as a new wife is this:

Never ask a man what he feels like eating!

They NEVER know!! 😭

Anything ke? 😭 Can’t they just be specific?

Anyway, don’t ask.

Just cook whatever you feel like eating…

They’ll happily eat it. 😂”

Her post immediately attracted thousands of reactions, with many Nigerians describing the advice as “too relatable,” while others argued that communication remains important in every marriage.

Nigerians Share Mixed Reactions

Several men admitted that they hardly have a particular meal in mind and would gladly eat whatever their wives prepare.

X user, Okwudili (@OkwyOgbe), wrote:

“This woman keeps asking on every occasion, ‘What type of soup is she going to cook?’ Madam just cook food for me, I go eat anything wey you cook.”

Another user, Landman (@Abdulbasidmd), agreed with the chef, saying:

Yes, 💯. It may sound lovely with good intentions, but with every vein in my body, I hate to be asked what to eat unless I feel like eating something at a particular time, which I voice out. I had let my wife know that.

User @chisocriz also shared a similar opinion, writing:

Same thing I always say. Aside from noodles, pasta, semo and other useless swallows I’ll eat anything you give me and lick fingers.

Another X user, @n6oflife6, joked:

This should be taught in marriage class. 😂👊”

Similarly, @youngelder01 commented:

This me. Just cook anything you like I will eat. I don’t reject food & there’s no food, soup or meat that I am allergic to too.”

Another user, Architect NLA (@one_miloo), also backed the advice, saying:

This woman said, ‘How can there be a person who doesn’t crave for a certain food at a certain time?’ Omolayami just cook dakun…

Not Everyone Agreed

While many found the post humorous, others argued that asking a spouse what they would like to eat is a normal part of communication in marriage.

One of the most popular responses came from Dolapo Adepoju (@pjdolapo), who wrote:

Wives asking their husbands what they would like to eat is often mere formality.

If a husband says, ‘I want yam and egg.’ A wife can reply with: ‘But we ate yam just three days ago. Why don’t we eat spaghetti today?’

What do you expect the next time, other than ‘anything’?

His comment received hundreds of reactions, with many users saying it perfectly explained why many husbands eventually stop making meal requests.

Chef Tosin responded with laughter, writing:

“Tor 😂”

Conversation Continues Online

Although many users interpreted the post as lighthearted marriage humour, others noted that every relationship is different and couples should adopt whatever communication style works best for them.

The discussion has continued to trend online, with thousands of Nigerians sharing similar experiences and funny stories about the everyday challenge of deciding what to cook at home.
