Facebook Post Leads to Marriage: Nigerian Woman Shares How a Simple DM Changed Her Life

A Nigerian Woman and Business Growth Strategist, Keturah Stephen, has shared an inspiring account of how a lighthearted Facebook post unexpectedly led her to finding love and getting married within six months.

In a lengthy post titled “From DM to I Do,” Stephen narrated how what began as a joke on Facebook eventually became the beginning of her lifelong journey with her husband, Joel Gojeh.

According to her, she started 2026 without any expectation that she would be married before the end of July. On January 10, she made a playful Facebook post that read, “My wedding date is supposed to be 16th May 2026. Is there a man willing to take the risk? Send me a DM, let’s talk.”

While many people reacted with laughter and humorous comments, one man decided to send her a direct message. Stephen said they were not Facebook friends and only had two mutual connections, making the encounter even more surprising.

She revealed that Joel later told her he had just finished praying about his future wife when he opened Facebook and saw her post. Believing it was more than a coincidence, he reached out to her, and their conversations soon moved to WhatsApp.

Stephen explained that she had always prayed for a short courtship whenever the right person came along. She said she did not want to spend several years dating before marriage and had shared that desire with Joel early in their conversations.

In February, Joel, who was living in Ghana at the time, travelled to Nigeria for a ministry programme before visiting her in Kaduna. Unknown to Stephen, he came with an engagement ring.

After spending time together, she discovered the ring he had quietly left in her kitchen. She accepted his proposal, and the couple officially began their relationship on February 16.

She said her decision was based on the character she had observed in Joel rather than the short period they had known each other. According to her, their relationship was built on prayer, studying the Bible together and pursuing God’s will.

Stephen added that Joel surrounded himself with friends who shared his Christian faith and that his commitment to God gave her confidence about their future together.

Less than two weeks after they officially started dating, Joel visited her family with some of his relatives to formally introduce himself and begin the traditional marriage process. She also disclosed that both families already knew each other, something she described as another sign that God had been preparing their path long before they met.

The traditional marriage rites continued on May 9 when Joel’s family representatives paid her bride price before her 35th birthday, fulfilling another promise he had made.

The couple later held their church wedding on July 26, 2026, after completing marriage counselling and other preparations.

Reflecting on the journey, Stephen said they intentionally built their relationship on faith, prayer, biblical teachings and accountability to their pastors. Despite the speed of their courtship, she noted that they participated in three different marriage counselling sessions to prepare for married life.

She concluded her testimony by encouraging others not to lose hope, saying God’s timing is always perfect and that He can accomplish His plans much faster than people expect.
