AAC Launches 500 Campaign Tricycles in Bauchi to Boost Grassroots Mobilisation Ahead of 2027

The African Action Congress (AAC) in Bauchi State has launched a new grassroots mobilisation campaign by deploying 500 branded commercial tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, across six campaign clusters in the state.

The initiative, unveiled on Tuesday by the Bauchi State chapter of the party, is aimed at taking the AAC’s message directly to residents as political activities gradually build towards the 2027 general elections.

According to a statement signed by the Bauchi State Chairman of the party, Ambassador Umar Y. Abubakar, the project is fully funded by the state leadership and marks the beginning of the “Bauchi AAC Keke Napep Contact and Mobilization Program.”

As part of the first phase, the party said it produced 5,000 campaign stickers featuring the images of AAC National Leader and Presidential Candidate , Omoyele Sowore, and the party’s Bauchi Governorship Candidate, Alhaji Sarki Abdullahi Adamu DanChina. The stickers have been placed on 500 commercial tricycles operating in different parts of the state.

The party believes the mobile campaign will give it daily visibility across communities while creating an opportunity to engage more residents on its policies and programmes.

AAC said the campaign also highlights its proposed economic agenda, built around four key pillars: the Orange Economy, Purple Economy, Blue Economy and Green Economy, which focus on areas such as innovation, education, healthcare, agriculture, renewable energy, culture and sustainable development.

The party further used the campaign to promote some of its policy proposals, including a ₦500,000 national minimum wage, job creation, improved public education and healthcare, anti-corruption measures and what it described as people-centred governance.

Speaking on the initiative, Ambassador Umar Y. Abubakar described the programme as more than a political campaign, saying it is designed to bring the party closer to ordinary citizens.

“This initiative is more than a campaign; it is a movement to educate, mobilize and inspire the people of Bauchi State about the possibility of a government that prioritises justice, accountability, economic prosperity and the welfare of every citizen,” he said.

The Bauchi AAC leadership reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful and issue-based campaigns and urged residents to support the party’s vision for the state and the country.

The launch of the Keke Napep mobilisation programme is one of the earliest visible grassroots campaign efforts by the party as preparations for the 2027 elections continue to gather momentum across Nigeria.

‘No Child Will Pay WAEC or NECO Fees Under My Government’ — Sowore Unveils 20-Point Education Plan for 2027

Human rights activist and African Action Congress (AAC) presidential hopeful Omoyele Sowore has unveiled a 20-point education blueprint, promising free education at all levels and the abolition of WAEC, NECO and other public examination fees if elected president in 2027.

The proposal comes amid public debate over the Federal Government’s approval of a new ₦50,000 registration fee for WAEC and NECO examinations beginning in 2027.

In a statement released alongside a series of illustrated policy cards, Sowore said no Nigerian child would be required to pay for public examinations under his administration.

“Education will be free because knowledge is a right, not a privilege,” he said.

According to Sowore, his education policy aims to provide free, high-quality education from early childhood through university while expanding access to technology, improving learning facilities and strengthening support for teachers and students.

Among the proposals are free education at every level, semester grants for students in public tertiary institutions, universal early childhood education, and a restructuring of the education system.

The plan also includes digital classrooms, artificial intelligence and coding education, community colleges in every local government area, expanded technical and vocational training, and reforms for polytechnics.

Sowore further proposed better salaries and improved welfare for teachers, greater university autonomy, protection of student unionism, increased funding for research and innovation, upgraded school infrastructure, school feeding programmes and stronger support for students with disabilities.

He said the goal is to ensure that no child’s educational opportunities are determined by poverty.

“This is not a promise of politics. It is a revolutionary commitment to build a nation where no child’s future is determined by poverty,” he stated.

The AAC candidate encouraged Nigerians to study the proposals, debate them and support what he described as a vision for transforming the country’s education sector.

His announcement is expected to fuel discussions on education financing, particularly following concerns raised by parents and education stakeholders over the planned increase in examination fees.

While Sowore’s proposals outline what he says his administration would pursue if elected, they remain campaign promises that would require electoral victory, legislative support and government implementation before they could become policy.

AAC Condemns Alleged Political Violence, Shootings in Ile-Ife and Owode-Ede

The African Action Congress (AAC), Osun State Chapter, has condemned the incidents of political violence and sporadic shootings reported in Ile-Ife and Owode-Ede on Tuesday, describing them as disturbing and unacceptable.

In a statement issued by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Akinlade Semiu, the AAC alleged that armed thugs loyal to the All Progressives Congress (APC) moved around in unmarked vehicles and fired shots indiscriminately, creating panic among residents and forcing many to flee for safety.

According to the party, several persons sustained injuries during the incidents, while there were reports of casualties. The AAC expressed concern over what it described as a growing trend of politically motivated violence in the state.

The party also raised concerns over reports that some security personnel were seen accompanying the alleged political thugs, a development it said could undermine public confidence in security agencies and threaten peace in the state.

The AAC called on the Osun State Police Command to investigate the incidents and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice. It also urged the Inspector-General of Police to strengthen security measures across the state ahead of future political activities.

The party further appealed to Governor Ademola Adeleke to take decisive steps to address security challenges and protect residents from violence and intimidation.

The statement also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ensure that democratic processes are not undermined by political violence, stressing that citizens should be free to exercise their political rights without fear.

The AAC maintained that the people of Osun State deserve peace, security, and good governance, particularly as preparations continue for the August 15, 2026 election.

As of the time of filing this report, neither the APC nor the Osun State Police Command had issued an official response to the allegations.
