Governor Adeleke Leaves Nigeria for Europe Vacation, Orders Probe Into Koka Kingship Dispute

Ademola Adeleke Europe vacation

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has left Nigeria for a vacation in Europe and ordered a probe into the Koka kingship dispute.

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has travelled out of Nigeria for a vacation in Europe, weeks after securing re-election in the state.

The governor departed through the Lagos airport, stating that the break would allow him to refresh and prepare for another phase of service to the people of Osun State.

“I am taking a short break to refresh and get further prepared to serve the good people of Osun State,” Adeleke said.

Adeleke is expected to visit the United Kingdom and other destinations, which are yet to be announced. He is also scheduled to undergo medical examinations during the vacation.

While leaving the country, the governor directed the Osun State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs to investigate a developing dispute over the traditional rulership of Koka Ilase in Obokun Local Government Area.

The directive followed reports of the appointment of another king in the community, raising concerns over the emergence of two claimants to the traditional stool.

Adeleke asked the ministry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the reported appointment and submit a report to clarify the situation.

“I read of another King appointed outside the one on the stool. The ministry is hereby directed to look into the dispute and issue a report to set the records straight,” he stated.

He also urged stakeholders in the community to remain peaceful while the government investigates the matter.

The governor stressed that the selection and recognition of traditional rulers must comply with existing chieftaincy laws and the customs and traditions of the people.

“Kingship is governed by extant laws and regulations and the government will stand by the law and tradition of our people,” Adeleke said.

The governor’s latest trip comes shortly after his re-election victory, while his administration continues to address governance and traditional institution matters across the state.
