AAC Kosofe Candidate Welcomes INEC Publication, Urges Residents to Collect PVCs

Ishola Rauf Shina, African Action Congress candidate for Kosofe Constituency I, calls for voter participation and improved community development.
AAC candidate Ishola Rauf Shina urges eligible voters in Kosofe to collect their PVCs and outlines his priorities for housing, education, healthcare and infrastructure.

Ishola Rauf Shina, the African Action Congress (AAC) candidate for the Lagos State House of Assembly in Kosofe Constituency I, has welcomed the publication of candidate details on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal, describing it as an important step towards democratic participation.

In a press statement, Shina said the development reinforced his commitment to offering residents an alternative focused on social justice, inclusive governance, community development and accountable representation.

He identified inadequate housing, deteriorating public infrastructure, limited economic opportunities and gaps in access to quality education and healthcare as some of the challenges facing residents of Kosofe.

Outlining his policy priorities, the AAC candidate said he would advocate for affordable housing, protection of legitimate land rights, transparent urban renewal and safeguards against arbitrary displacement of communities.

He also pledged to push for improvements in public schools, teacher support, digital learning, vocational training and youth development, while promoting technology-driven opportunities and greater transparency in public administration.

On healthcare, Shina said he would advocate for the rehabilitation and improved equipping of primary healthcare centres across Kosofe, with attention to staffing, essential medicines, maternal and child healthcare and affordable treatment.

He further highlighted employment, support for small businesses, artisans and traders, improved roads, drainage, sanitation, waste management and street lighting among his priorities.

The candidate also called for community-based approaches to public safety, access to justice and the protection of residents’ fundamental rights. He said his approach to representation would include regular consultations with community associations, youth groups, women, persons with disabilities, traders and other stakeholders.

Shina said he intended to present his manifesto directly to residents and incorporate their concerns into his policy priorities.

The AAC candidate also urged eligible voters in Kosofe Constituency I and across Lagos State to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and confirm collection arrangements through official INEC channels ahead of the forthcoming elections.

He described the PVC as an important instrument of democratic participation and encouraged residents to make informed choices at the ballot box.

He further urged voters to reject intimidation, electoral violence, vote buying and other practices capable of undermining the electoral process, calling for peaceful and credible elections.

Under his campaign theme, “Mission to Liberation,” Shina said his vision was to pursue a new direction for Kosofe and Lagos State through improved housing, education, healthcare, economic opportunities, infrastructure and accountable leadership.

He acknowledged that addressing the area’s challenges would require planning, public participation, legislative engagement and sustained accountability.

“Our commitment is to work diligently, represent the people responsibly, demand accountability and pursue practical solutions that improve the quality of life of our constituents,” he said.

Shina concluded by inviting residents, community leaders, civil society organisations, professionals, young people, traders and other stakeholders to join his campaign for what he described as a more inclusive and people-centred approach to governance.

2027 Election: ‘70–80% of My Government Will Be For Youths’ — AAC Lagos Guber Candidate

AAC Lagos governorship candidate Adedamola Ade-Soca Sol-Nuyi addressing supporters at the party’s campaign flag-off
The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Engr. Adedamola Ade-Soca Sol-Nuyi, has promised that Nigerian youths will make up between 70 and 80 per cent of his proposed government if elected governor in 2027.

Sol-Nuyi made the promise on Saturday, October 3, 2026, during the party’s campaign flag-off and one-million-man match in Lagos.

Addressing supporters at the event, the AAC candidate urged Nigerian youths, especially Lagosians not to allow anyone to make them feel worthless, promising to prioritize their participation in governance.

The AAC candidate made youth participation a central part of his address, promising that young Nigerians would occupy between 70 and 80 per cent of positions in his proposed administration if he becomes governor.

“I am telling Nigerian youth once again, when we become the governor, by the grace of God, 70 to 80 percent of our government will be Nigerian youths,” Sol-Nuyi said.

He urged young people not to allow anyone to convince them that they were worthless or incapable of contributing meaningfully to society and governance.

Sol-Nuyi also outlined areas he said would receive attention under an AAC government, including housing, food, education and road infrastructure.

He promised that the party would invest in housing policies aimed at making accommodation more affordable, while also pursuing measures to improve access to food and what he described as quality free education.

The candidate further pledged to improve road networks across Lagos, saying the proposed policies were intended to improve living conditions for families and create an environment where young Nigerians could build their lives with greater dignity.

“So our children can live like Nigerians even in their father’s land and not like slaves,” he said.

The AAC candidate also criticized the APC governorship candidate and incumbent Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, over a comment he made in a video concerning youths who cannot afford rent. In the video referenced by Ade-Soca Sol-Nuyi, Hamzat told youths who could not afford rent to return to their parents’ homes.

Reacting to the comment, the AAC candidate said Hamzat and the APC would be voted out of the Lagos State Government House in 2027.

“Don’t worry, they will be the ones to pack their loads out of our Government House in 2027 because we are going to march forward until victory is ours,” he said.

The comments come as political parties and candidates intensify their mobilization ahead of the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.

AAC Lagos Chairman Clarifies: Some-Fun Remains Lagos West Senatorial Candidate

The Chairman of the African Action Congress (AAC) in Lagos State, Comrade Samson Olanrewaju, has clarified that Alfred O. Some-Fun remains the party’s candidate for the Lagos West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 elections.

Olanrewaju reached out to Shemariah Media to clarify reports that circulated following the leakage of an internal communication concerning the suspension and withdrawal of Some-Fun’s candidacy.

According to the Lagos AAC Chairman, the communication was from an internal candidates’ group and had not been authorised by the Lagos State leadership for public circulation or treated as a final decision on Some-Fun’s candidacy.

He explained that the information subsequently circulated outside the group was therefore not an authorised final position of the Lagos State leadership.

Olanrewaju’s clarification establishes that Some-Fun continues to hold the AAC ticket for the Lagos West Senatorial District.

The clarification follows an earlier report suggesting that Some-Fun had been suspended and his candidacy withdrawn, which generated discussions about his status within the party.

In a separate communication previously circulated by the AAC Lagos West chapter, the chapter also stated that the circulated suspension and withdrawal publication should not be regarded as the official position of the party pending clarification through the appropriate structures, while indicating that Some-Fun remained the AAC Lagos West candidate.

The latest clarification from the Lagos State Chairman further addresses the controversy and provides the party’s position as communicated directly to Shemariah Media.

Shemariah Media understands that the earlier communication should therefore not be treated as a final withdrawal of Some-Fun’s candidacy, following the clarification from the Lagos State party leadership.

AAC Raises Constitutional Questions Over Tinubu’s Extended Stay Abroad

AAC raises constitutional questions over President Tinubu’s extended stay abroad

The African Action Congress (AAC) has raised constitutional questions over President Bola Tinubu’s extended stay outside Nigeria, calling on the National Assembly to clarify whether the procedure provided under Section 145 of the Constitution has been followed.

The party made its position known in a press statement dated September 23, 2026, signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Rex I. Elanu.

According to the AAC, Tinubu left Nigeria on August 30 for a three-week vacation, while the Presidency announced on September 21 that the President had extended his stay abroad by a few more days.

The party argued that the development raises questions about the constitutional procedure governing a President’s absence from the country.

Section 145(1) of the 1999 Constitution provides that when the President proceeds on vacation or is otherwise unable to discharge the functions of his office, he is to transmit a written declaration to the President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

Section 145(2) further provides for action by the National Assembly where the required declaration is not transmitted within 21 days.

The AAC is asking Senate President Godswill Akpabio and Speaker of the House of Representatives Abbas Tajudeen to clarify whether the required declaration was transmitted and, if not, whether the procedure contemplated under Section 145(2) should be activated.

The party said the issue was not simply about Tinubu’s vacation but about constitutional procedure, accountability and clarity regarding the exercise of presidential authority.

The Presidency, however, has maintained that Tinubu remains in contact with officials in Nigeria and continues to direct the affairs of the country while abroad. In its September 21 statement announcing the extension of his working vacation, the State House said the President had continued to direct national affairs and had taken official decisions while away.

The Presidency also said Tinubu was expected to return to Nigeria at the weekend. It stated that Vice-President Kashim Shettima had been delegated to represent the President at some official functions, including the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Presidential aide Daniel Bwala has also argued that Tinubu can govern Nigeria from outside the country, maintaining that the President’s constitutional powers are not dependent on his physical location.

The constitutional question has also attracted comments from other political figures and legal voices. Former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar has separately questioned whether the constitutional procedure under Section 145 has been followed, while lawyer Inibehe Effiong has argued that the situation requires National Assembly intervention.

The debate comes as Tinubu remains in Europe and Shettima attends the UN General Assembly in New York.

The AAC has therefore urged the leadership of both chambers of the National Assembly to publicly clarify whether the required constitutional declaration was received and what steps, if any, have been taken in response.

The party said it would continue to advocate accountability and participatory democracy, stressing that Nigerians deserve clarity on the constitutional arrangements governing the President’s absence.

AAC Lagos West Chapter Disowns Circulated Suspension Notice, Says Some-Fun Remains Candidate

AAC Lagos West press release disclaiming circulated suspension of Some-Fun

The Lagos West Senatorial District chapter of the African Action Congress (AAC) has distanced itself from a recently circulated publication announcing the suspension of Comrade Alfred O. Some-Fun and the withdrawal of his candidacy for the Lagos West Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a press release signed by Comr. Ayinde Olawale, Deputy Chairman of the Lagos West Senatorial District of the AAC, the chapter said the circulated publication should not be regarded as an official position or communication of the party pending proper clarification and confirmation through its appropriate structures.

The chapter advised members of the public, party members, supporters, candidates and other stakeholders to disregard any unverified information concerning the purported suspension or withdrawal of Some-Fun’s candidacy until an official statement is issued by the duly authorised party leadership.

The statement further maintained that Some-Fun remains the AAC candidate for the Lagos West Senatorial District for the 2027 general election, pending any duly authorised communication through the party’s appropriate channels.

The Lagos West chapter said the AAC remains committed to due process, internal party procedures, discipline, transparency, accountability and respect for the established structures of the party.

It also urged party members, supporters and members of the public to rely solely on official communications from the appropriate party authorities and refrain from circulating unverified information capable of creating confusion, misunderstanding or division.

“Any further clarification, where necessary, will be communicated through the appropriate official channels,” the statement said.

The development comes after a separate statement purportedly announcing the immediate suspension of Some-Fun and withdrawal of his candidacy was circulated publicly.

The latest press release, however, says that publication should not be treated as an official communication pending clarification through the AAC’s authorised structures.
