Sowore Offers Legal Help to DJ Chicken, Says He Doesn’t Deserve to Be in Prison

Human rights activist and AAC presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has offered to support popular social media personality DJ Chicken by helping him challenge the criminal charges filed against him. In a statement shared on Monday, Sowore appealed to anyone who has contact with DJ Chicken’s family or relatives to help establish communication, saying he is ready to provide legal advocacy for the entertainer. Sowore in his statement says, DJ Chicken should not be behind bars and deserves to enjoy his constitutional right to liberty while his case is handled through the legal process. “I want to help get DJ Chicken out of prison because I do not believe he deserves to spend a day behind bars; he is entitled to his liberty under the law,” Sowore said. The activist also criticized what he described as the continued prosecution of young Nigerians by the current administration, arguing that more should be done to create opportunities for the country’s youth instead of exposing them to pr...

“Messi Is Miles Ahead of Ronaldo” — Mikel Obi Explains Why Chelsea Feared the Argentine More

Former Chelsea and Nigeria midfielder John Obi Mikel has reignited the long-running Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo debate, saying the Argentine was a far more difficult opponent to face during his playing career. Speaking in a recent interview, Mikel said there was “no comparison” between the two football icons, explaining that Chelsea’s approach to stopping Ronaldo was completely different from the tactics used against Messi. According to the former Super Eagles captain, then-Chelsea manager José Mourinho would often assign a single defender, usually Ashley Cole, to deal with Ronaldo whenever they faced Manchester United. However, Mikel said preparing for Barcelona and Messi required an entirely different strategy. “Messi is miles ahead of Ronaldo. There’s no comparison,” Mikel said. “Against Manchester United, Mourinho would tell Ashley Cole to handle Ronaldo. But for Messi, we’d spend the whole week preparing for him… then the coach would say, ‘Just kick him and put two men on h...

Video:“Chibok Was the President’s Fault, Oyo Is the Governor’s Fault”- Seyi Makinde

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has questioned what he described as a double standard in how Nigerians react to major school abductions, comparing the recent kidnapping in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State with the 2014 Chibok schoolgirls’ abduction. Speaking during an interview, Makinde said he found it inconsistent that the Chibok incident was widely blamed on the President at the time, while the recent abduction in Oyo State has largely been blamed on him as governor. “When Chibok happened, it was the fault of the President. But when Oyo happened, it became the fault of the Governor,” Makinde said. The governor’s comments come days after the successful release of the abducted pupils and teachers from Oriire Local Government Area, who spent nearly two months in captivity. The Federal Government and security agencies have maintained that the victims were rescued after a coordinated intelligence-led operation involving the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services (...

The newspaper shown in the image is dated Monday, July 17, 2006, and is labelled Volume 12, No. 126. Shemariah Media investigated the claim to determine whether the newspaper report can be independently verified. There is, however, evidence that the phrase “How I Was Cured Of Madness” has circulated online in connection with another Nigerian politician, former Aviation Ministe...
