Adaeze Oputa: Charly Boy’s Daughter Who Married a Man in 2018 Is Now Engaged to a Woman

Adaeze Oputa, daughter of Nigerian entertainer Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has attracted attention after announcing her engagement to a woman, years after she previously married a man.

Adaeze announced the engagement on Instagram, sharing a photograph with her partner and revealing that they had taken the next step in their relationship.

“WE’RE ENGAGED!” she wrote, accompanying the announcement with the hashtag #mrsandmrs.

Her father, Charly Boy, also publicly celebrated the engagement by sharing a video from the occasion on Instagram.

“My beautiful Princess and her Husband. Folks, wish dem well for me,” he wrote.

The latest development has drawn attention partly because Adaeze was previously married to a man, Steve Metu Anu.

Reports from December 2017 showed that Charly Boy had announced that his daughter was preparing to marry, describing her as his “Royal Princess” and wishing her a successful marriage.

In February 2018, Adaeze and Steve Metu Anu held their traditional wedding in Abuja. Reports at the time identified Steve as Adaeze’s husband and said Charly Boy hosted the traditional ceremony at his residence in Gwarinpa Estate.

The Nation reported at the time that Charly Boy celebrated the union on social media, referring to the couple as “Mr and Mrs Anu.”

There is, however, limited reliable public information available about what happened to Adaeze’s previous marriage, including when it ended or the circumstances surrounding its end. It would therefore be speculative to describe her as divorced or separated without further evidence.
