2027 Election: ‘70–80% of My Government Will Be For Youths’ — AAC Lagos Guber Candidate

The African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Lagos State, Engr. Adedamola Ade-Soca Sol-Nuyi, has promised that Nigerian youths will make up between 70 and 80 per cent of his proposed government if elected governor in 2027.

Sol-Nuyi made the promise on Saturday, October 3, 2026, during the party’s campaign flag-off and one-million-man match in Lagos.

Addressing supporters at the event, the AAC candidate urged Nigerian youths, especially Lagosians not to allow anyone to make them feel worthless, promising to prioritize their participation in governance.

The AAC candidate made youth participation a central part of his address, promising that young Nigerians would occupy between 70 and 80 per cent of positions in his proposed administration if he becomes governor.

“I am telling Nigerian youth once again, when we become the governor, by the grace of God, 70 to 80 percent of our government will be Nigerian youths,” Sol-Nuyi said.

He urged young people not to allow anyone to convince them that they were worthless or incapable of contributing meaningfully to society and governance.

Sol-Nuyi also outlined areas he said would receive attention under an AAC government, including housing, food, education and road infrastructure.

He promised that the party would invest in housing policies aimed at making accommodation more affordable, while also pursuing measures to improve access to food and what he described as quality free education.

The candidate further pledged to improve road networks across Lagos, saying the proposed policies were intended to improve living conditions for families and create an environment where young Nigerians could build their lives with greater dignity.

“So our children can live like Nigerians even in their father’s land and not like slaves,” he said.

The AAC candidate also criticized the APC governorship candidate and incumbent Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat, over a comment he made in a video concerning youths who cannot afford rent. In the video referenced by Ade-Soca Sol-Nuyi, Hamzat told youths who could not afford rent to return to their parents’ homes.

Reacting to the comment, the AAC candidate said Hamzat and the APC would be voted out of the Lagos State Government House in 2027.

“Don’t worry, they will be the ones to pack their loads out of our Government House in 2027 because we are going to march forward until victory is ours,” he said.

The comments come as political parties and candidates intensify their mobilization ahead of the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.

Three Years After Oworonshoki Demolitions, Youth Forum Raises Alarm Over Homelessness, Deaths

Oworonshoki demolition victims

The Oworo Youths Forum (OYF) has renewed calls for compensation and resettlement for residents affected by the demolition exercise in Oworonshoki, Lagos State, three years after the displacement began.

In a statement dated September 2, 2026, the group said the consequences of the demolitions continue to affect residents across communities stretching from Odunfa Street to Lone Street, through Precious Seed and down to Ojileru Street.

The forum alleged that the demolition of homes and properties had resulted in prolonged hardship, with some affected residents losing their lives while others continue to struggle with illnesses which the group attributed to displacement, trauma and poor access to healthcare.

According to OYF, hundreds of displaced residents, including women and children, are still without adequate shelter and some are allegedly sleeping in the open around the Oworonshoki Car Wash Expressway and other parts of the community.

The group said families who previously had homes and sources of livelihood had been pushed into difficult living conditions, while some children had experienced disruptions to their education.

OYF described the situation as an ongoing humanitarian concern and criticised what it said was the absence of adequate compensation, resettlement and support for genuine victims.

The forum called on the Lagos State Government to take responsibility for the consequences of the demolition exercise and provide compensation, resettlement and other forms of assistance to affected residents.

The group also criticised the legacy of the administration of former Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, arguing that the treatment of residents affected by the demolitions should be considered alongside the administration’s projects and achievements.

“The ruins left behind in Oworonshoki will remain a painful reminder of this administration unless justice is done and adequate compensation is provided to the victims,” the group stated.

OYF said it would continue to demand accountability, justice and dignity for those affected by the demolitions.

The statement was signed by Yemi Aderibigbe, President of the Oworo Youths Forum, and Towolawi Jamiu, its Public Relations Officer.
