Court Orders Wike’s Son to Produce American Passport in $2.1m Land Dispute

Jordan Wike and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike in connection with the $2.1 million Abuja land dispute.

A High Court of the Federal Capital Territory sitting in Maitama, Abuja, has ordered Jordan Ezenwo Nyesom-Wike, son of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, to produce his American passport in court as proceedings continue in a disputed $2.1 million land transaction.

Justice Sylvanus Oriji made the order following an application by counsel to the claimants, Hamza Dantani, during proceedings in the suit marked CV/008/2026.

The case was filed by Safwan Garba GY and GY Global Oil and Gas Nigeria Limited against Jordan Wike over an alleged agreement involving the acquisition of land in Abuja.

The claimants allege that they first met Jordan in London and later met again in Abuja, where they approached him for assistance in facilitating the acquisition of land in the Federal Capital Territory.

According to their account, Jordan agreed to facilitate the acquisition of 30 hectares of land in Katampe and another 30 hectares in Guzape.

The claimants further allege that Jordan demanded $2.1 million as a facilitation fee, claiming that $2 million was intended for his father, the FCT Minister, while $100,000 was for himself. They allege that the money was delivered in cash on September 26, 2025, in the presence of Adamu Sani, Aliyu Sarki and Sai Wani, while Jordan was allegedly accompanied by a person identified as Onor Sandy.

Jordan has denied the allegations. During proceedings, he told the court that he was not in Nigeria on the date the claimants said the money was handed over and stated that he had travelled using his American passport.

The passport subsequently became relevant to the proceedings because the claimants sought to establish Jordan’s whereabouts on the date of the alleged transaction.

The court consequently ordered him to produce the travel document. Reports from Wednesday’s proceedings indicate that Jordan subsequently presented the American passport in court.

Jordan has also denied receiving any money from the claimants and disputed documents allegedly connected to the transaction. He reportedly told the court that he did not sign any document relating to the alleged land deal and that his signature on a document was forged.

The allegations involving the $2.1 million payment, the proposed land acquisition and any alleged involvement of the FCT Minister remain contested before the court. No finding of liability has been established against Jordan in the proceedings.

The matter has been adjourned for further hearing, with the parties expected to continue presenting their respective cases.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been honoured with the Shield Award of the Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) as part of activities marking the union’s 114th anniversary.

The award was presented on Monday at Merit House in Abuja in recognition of what the union described as Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerian workers.

The NCSU Shield Award is described by the union as its highest honour and is reserved for individuals it considers to have demonstrated exceptional service and dedication to the advancement of Nigerian workers.

The award was received on behalf of the President by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, who was also recognised by the union for his support for the Nigerian workforce.

The union’s National President, Comrade Oluwole Sunday, led the presentation alongside the immediate past President, Comrade Lawrence Ameachi, who served as Chairman of the Occasion; Comrade Adoga Gupada, Chairman of the Federal Council of the NCSU; and Comrade Yildet Bigwan, Assistant General Secretary.

In presenting the award, Sunday described President Tinubu as a “true shield of the Nigerian worker” and said the administration’s policies had prioritised the interests of the labour force.

The union also said the President’s interventions had improved morale within the civil service and demonstrated concern for the welfare of workers across the country.

Receiving the award on behalf of Tinubu, Keyamo expressed appreciation for the recognition from the NCSU, which he described as the oldest trade union in Nigeria.

Keyamo also highlighted what he described as the President’s commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerian workers.

The NCSU has 84 affiliates and traces its history back more than a century, predating Nigeria’s independence. The union has described itself as one of the organisations that confronted British colonial authorities over the interests of Nigerian workers.

Following the ceremony, the award was displayed by Keyamo in his office alongside leaders of the union.

The event formed part of activities marking the 114th anniversary of the Nigeria Civil Service Union.

IGP Disu Launches Vigilant App, MTN Network to Strengthen Fraud Reporting and Police Communication

IGP Disu Launches Vigilant App, MTN Network to Fight Fraud

Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Rilwan Disu has launched the Nigeria Police Force Vigilant App and the NPF–MTN Closed User Group Network as part of efforts to improve financial-fraud reporting, public engagement and communication among police personnel nationwide.

Disu unveiled the two initiatives on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at the NPF Conference Centre in Jabi, Abuja.

The Vigilant App is a citizen-facing platform developed by the Force ICT Department in collaboration with stakeholders in the financial-services sector. It is designed to give members of the public a faster channel to report suspected financial fraud to the police.

According to the Nigeria Police Force, users of the platform can submit fraud reports, upload supporting evidence, monitor the progress of their cases and receive feedback. The platform is also expected to facilitate coordination between the police and relevant institutions in the financial-services ecosystem.

The NPF–MTN CUG Network, meanwhile, is designed specifically for police personnel across the country. The dedicated network is expected to provide secure and affordable on-net communication, helping officers improve coordination, emergency response and operational communication between commands and units.

Speaking at the launch, IGP Disu described the initiatives as practical steps in the Force’s ongoing digital-transformation efforts.

He said the Vigilant App would strengthen engagement between the police and members of the public, while the CUG Network would improve communication within the Force and contribute to a more connected and responsive police service.

Disu also stressed that the use of technology in policing must remain lawful, ethical and responsible, with proper consideration for citizens’ rights, privacy, data protection and accountability.

The Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Information and Communication Technology, Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha, said the initiatives reflected the Force’s determination to deploy practical technology-driven solutions to improve service delivery and strengthen engagement with the public.

He urged Nigerians to download the Vigilant App through the Google Play Store and Apple App Store and use it responsibly when reporting suspected financial fraud.

The launch brought together representatives of the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Presidential Committee on Economic and Financial Inclusion, the Police Service Commission, Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System, financial institutions, fintech companies, MTN Nigeria, Vigilant Technology Limited, TIMPH International Limited and other stakeholders.

The Nigeria Police Force said the initiatives were developed through collaboration with relevant government agencies and private-sector partners as part of efforts to make policing more accessible, responsive and technology-driven.

The Force further reaffirmed its commitment to using innovation and strategic partnerships to improve public safety, strengthen operational effectiveness and deliver more people-centred policing services across Nigeria.
