University confirms lecturer’s death
The university confirmed that Uwuigbe was a staff member of Ambrose Alli University but stressed that the incident occurred outside the institution.
Mike Aladenika, the university’s Public Relations Officer, said the woman involved was not a student of the university.
“We are not denying that he is our staff, but whatever he did and what happened, it is his private life. The girl in question is not our student, and everything happened outside our institution,” Aladenika said.

The platform described his death as “shocking” and identified him as a lecturer in the Faculty of Medical Laboratory Science.
The university community has since expressed condolences to his family, colleagues, students, friends and other loved ones.
The circumstances surrounding Uwuigbe’s death remain under investigation by the police. The cause of death has not been established in the information provided, and the arrests do not by themselves establish criminal responsibility.
