Afrobeats superstar Davido has revealed that one of his biggest fears is experiencing the painful side of fame after years of success, saying he worries about the day people may forget everything he has achieved.

Speaking during a recent interview, the award-winning singer said he often thinks about how difficult it can be for people who were once at the top of their careers to adjust when the spotlight begins to fade.

“If there was one thing I could build, I would build a centre for people who have been popular and very successful before,” Davido said.

According to him, such a centre would provide therapy and emotional support for celebrities, athletes and other public figures struggling with life after reaching the peak of their careers.

“It’s crazy being on top of the world and the next moment you’re not,” he said.

To explain his point, Davido referenced Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, whom he described as a close friend.

“Look at Ronaldo. He’s my friend, by the way, my very good friend. When he left the World Cup, I remember being on the internet and people were abusing him so much after everything he has done,” Davido said.

The singer said moments like that remind him how quickly public opinion can change, regardless of a person’s achievements.

He admitted that the possibility of damaging the legacy he has built over the years is one of the things that worries him the most.

“I work too hard for me to come and spoil it with something. I always ask God to show me the right time,” he added.
