Tinubu Appoints Fayose, 25 Others Into Key Federal Agencies

Ayo Fayose and 25 others into key federal agencies, including REA, NPC, NBET and the National Salaries Commission.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and management of 10 federal government agencies and commissions, with former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, emerging as the new Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA).

The appointments, announced on Monday, 20th July, 2026 in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, take immediate effect.

According to the Presidency, Fayose will head the board of the Rural Electrification Agency alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as non-executive directors. The agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three previously appointed executive directors will complete the board.

President Tinubu also approved the appointment of retired Major General Junaid Bindawa as Chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

Former Lagos lawmaker, Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, was named Secretary of the commission, while Dr. Ogbole Ene Lilian, Oladele Olatubosun and Yakubu Umar Barde were appointed as commissioners representing Benue, Oyo and Kaduna states respectively.

Other members of the commission include Dr. Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Florence Tor (Enugu), Engineer Lawrence Okoh (Edo) and Bello Morenike Iyabode (Kogi).

In another development, President Tinubu redeployed Tosin Johnson Adeyanju from his position as Executive Secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF) to serve as Secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission.

The President also appointed Dr. Abuh Mohammed as the new Director-General of the National Population Commission (NPC), while Dr. Akinola Odeyemi will now serve as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Company (NBET).

Dr. Anthony Inalegwu Godwin was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission.

Similarly, Engineer Julius Oloro has been named the Chief Executive Officer of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM) in Kwara State. He replaces Dr. A.R. Kamal, who died in January this year.

President Tinubu also inaugurated a new board for the Fiscal Responsibility Commission, appointing Dr. Abdullahi Maikano Saidu as Chairman.

Other members of the commission are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Aliyu Makama, Dr. Suleiman Gidado, Louis O. Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele and Olaniyi Idowu Onikola.

The President further approved the appointment of Shuni Muhammad Dahiru as Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education. Dahiru replaces Professor Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was earlier redeployed to the Petroleum Trust Development Fund (PTDF).

To fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Mathias Byuan, the former Executive Director (Finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Tinubu appointed Gisaor Vincent Iorja.

Iorja, an economist, legal scholar and academic, currently serves as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC). He resigned from the FHA to contest the Benue State governorship election.

The Presidency said all the appointments take effect immediately, expressing confidence that the newly appointed officials will strengthen governance and improve service delivery across their respective institutions.

The latest appointments come as the Tinubu administration continues efforts to reposition key government agencies and fill strategic vacancies in the federal public service.
