Journalist and media personality Kemi Olunloyo has issued a fresh update on the condition of music promoter Sam Larry, dismissing widespread social media reports that claimed he had died or undergone a double leg amputation following a reported road accident.

The clarification comes after conflicting accounts of Sam Larry’s condition circulated online, with several blogs and social media users sharing unverified claims about his health.

In a statement posted on her social media page, Olunloyo urged the public to disregard what she described as fake news and misinformation, insisting that Sam Larry is alive and responding to medical treatment.

According to her, the music promoter sustained a spinal cord injury in the accident but has not died, contrary to claims that gained traction across social media platforms.

“Sam Larry is now responding to treatment. There is a spinal cord injury,” she wrote while criticising what she described as the misinterpretation of her earlier comments.

Olunloyo explained that her previous remarks about the possibility of Sam Larry spending the rest of his life in a wheelchair were based on the severity of his reported injuries and not confirmation that his legs had been amputated.

She also dismissed reports suggesting that she had announced Sam Larry’s death, accusing bloggers and social media influencers of exaggerating her comments to attract public attention.

Providing further details, Olunloyo claimed that information from a police traffic source indicated that Sam Larry was driving the SUV involved in the accident and may have mistakenly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake before crashing into a stationary dump truck on the wet Oniru Coastal Road.

She further alleged that alcohol was present at an event attended before the accident. However, Shemariah Media has not independently verified these claims, and no official statement has been released by the Nigeria Police Force or medical authorities confirming the cause of the crash.

Olunloyo also used the opportunity to address renewed discussions linking Sam Larry to the late singer Mohbad, maintaining that her independent investigation found no evidence connecting the music promoter to the singer’s death.

The journalist urged the public to distinguish between verified journalism and social media speculation, arguing that developing stories should not be distorted for engagement or online traffic.

As of the time of filing this report, Sam Larry’s family, representatives, attending medical team and the Lagos State Police Command have not issued any official statement regarding his current medical condition or the circumstances surrounding the reported accident.

The incident has once again highlighted how quickly unverified information can spread online during breaking news events, with conflicting reports making it difficult for the public to separate fact from speculation.

Shemariah Media will continue to monitor developments and provide updates as more information becomes available from official sources.
